The liquid nitrogen storage tank is heat-insulated, and the same applies to the liquid oxygen tank, which consists of an inner container, an insulation layer (or vacuum layer), and an outer shell. Despite the presence of the insulation layer, it is still impossible to maintain the temperature of liquid oxygen. The material of the liquid oxygen tank is relatively thin—even much thinner than that of an oxygen cylinder. Therefore, it is equipped with a gas release pipeline and valves. When gas is released, oxygen carries away heat, thereby achieving the purpose of heat preservation. This is similar to how boiling water is kept at 100°C. However, sometimes the heat of liquid oxygen is too low, which causes the pressure inside the tank to drop excessively. For this reason, a heating circuit and a pressure boosting valve are installed. The heating circuit operates relying on the convection of liquid oxygen and does not require a pump; it only needs to introduce heat from the outside. The boiling point of liquid oxygen is -183°C. As a result, the structure of the liquid oxygen tank becomes more complex, and it is also equipped with a protective frame, a pressure gauge, and other components. The [safety] valve of the liquid oxygen tank can close automatically, but the pressure boosting valve cannot—this feature can be used for pressure regulation.
